We have an exciting opportunity for a HR professional to join the Employee Relations team at Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust.

You will provide support to a number of services on a full range of individual and collective employee relations issues.

A particular focus for this role will be supporting services in managing and reducing sickness absence. The post holder will also get involved in the development of HR policies and ad hoc projects.

You should have excellent communication and IT skills and ideally be CIPD qualified. Previous experience in HR is essential to this role. The role will be based in Brighton.

The Trust covers a wide geographical area and post holder will need to be able to travel between sites.

2. Job Summary To support the Human Resources team in providing a comprehensive Human Resources service to managers and employees throughout the Trust.3. Key Responsibilities 1. Interpret and advise on terms and conditions of employment, employment legislation and Trust Human Resources policies and procedures, ensuring adherence to Trust policies and standards and legislative requirements.
4Provide advice and assistance to service areas, working collaboratively with managers on employee relation matters, including absence management, discipline, grievance, recruitment and selection, redundancy, redeployment, pay and associated areas, ensuring fairness and consistency of management action in accordance with the Trust’s policies and legislative requirements.
5.Participate in the Trust’s negotiating and consultative arrangements and to encourage joint solutions to problems and issues in the interests of the Trust and its workforce.
6. U n d e r t a k e r esearch and development on good professional practice and advise upon new and existing human resources policies and procedures in accordance with ‘best practice’ and in line with up to date employment legislation. 5. To actively participate at team/departmental meetings, providing information regarding Trust wide HR related topics. 6. Participate in and lead working parties or multi-disciplinary groups on Trustwide and HR specific topics, contributing to overall development and HR practices.
7. Design and deliver training programmes on HR related topics to increase understanding and awareness of the Trust’s HR policies and procedures.
8. Act as investigating officer adhering to Trust policies and support and provide HR advice to those undertaking investigations.
9. Attend formal hearings, eg disciplinary hearings and appeals, providing HR support at these and attend those of a complex nature in a secretarial support capacity ensuring notes are accurate and reflect the nature and complexity of discussion.
10. To provide HR support to senior HR colleagues within the team as appropriate, which may also involve medical staffing and workforce matters.
11. To deputize on groups and for Trust lead on HR matters as required by senior HR colleagues.
12. T o p roject manage HR initiatives as required.
13. Participate in job matching/evaluation panels and to provide support to managers on developing job descriptions.
14. To prepare and actively participate in the Trust’s appraisal process and progress reviews.
15. Ensure training and development needs detailed in your personal development plan are followed up and the effectiveness of the acquired training and development evaluated in terms of self, patient and service.
16. To be responsible for the quality of data recorded. The data should be accurate, legible (if hand-written), recorded in a timely manner, kept up to date and appropriately filed.
