Job Description:

                  Health Care Assistant

 

Purpose of Job : To provide high quality care to all residents

Shift Types: Mornings, Afternoons, Long Days & Nights.

Job Requirements:

Main Responsibilities:

  • Attend to the wishes and comfort, personal appearance and hygiene of residents at all times.
  • Take and chart observations of residents, including weight, food and liquid intakes/outputs. Perform simple tests of urine. Complete charts and care assistant records as directed.
  • Assist and actively encourage the social care and the wellbeing of residents.
  • Contribute to the development of new ideas in nursing care and in respect of stimulation for residents to improve their quality of life.
  • Assist with the reception and orientation of new residents in a reassuring manner.
  • List the residents clothing and other property.
  • Prepare food trays and eating areas. Prepare residents for meals and provide assistance to residents with eating as required.
  • Tidy residents` rooms and cupboards; keep clothing and possessions in order.
  • Make beds and change bed linen. Dispose of soiled linen in accordance with home procedures. Bag sheets for collection.
  • Escort residents to hospital, dentist, shops or other approved excursions as required.
  • Ensure that all residents receive Person Centered Care.

Educational / Professional qualifications:

  • Basic education, If you have a caring nature we can train you to do the rest.
  • Hold N.V.Q. Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social care is a big advantage.

Experience:

  • Good but not essential.
  • Open minded attitude.
  • Ability to work well within a team.
  • Experience of caring and able to demonstrate an empathy and caring nature.
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of what care assistant do, ideally in a nursing home environment.
  • Ability to observe residents and record on an electronic system: weight & food / liquid intakes and outputs.

Circumstances:

  • Able to work the shift patterns as required, including Nights and weekends. we can be flexible.

 

Must be able to hold a clean DBS. or be able to have a discussion as to particular circumstances. The £60 cost will be refunded upon successful completion of your probation.
